Welcome to my little piece of the web.
Currently, I am serving as the Dean for the College of Communication at Rowan University. I have been teaching and working at Rowan for almost twelve years now. Prior to that time, I taught at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and
Purdue University. My research interests primarily relate to family communication and women's issues. I typically teach courses such as family communication, communicating gender, interpersonal communication, organizational communication, communication theory, and Senior Seminar.
If you are looking for information about the family communication text, it can be found at Family Communication: Theory and Research (link to Amazon sales), or though many other sellers/resellers.
Please visit me at The Dean Blog for updates on what is going on in the College of Communication.

Selected Publications
- Arnold, L. B. (2008) Family Communication: Theory and Research. Boston: Allyn & Bacon
This text is a combination of single author and edited volume. For each chapter, I have written an extensive introductory section (15-25 pages) to provide an overview of the research and theory related to that dimension of family communication. This is followed by 2-3 submitted works (original to this text) reporting research of scholars in the field. I follow these with a concluding section for each chapter (approximately 10 pages) that brings together the introduction and the submissions. In addition to these sections, I also authored the first and last chapters of the text, as well as one of the research examples.
